Big Drop Brewing Co

Winner of the 2020 Non-Alc World Beers Awards

Rob Fink and James Kindred started Big Drop when they began experiencing lifestyle changes (eg. fatherhood) that meant they couldn’t get on the grog quite as often. They found that the non-alc beer options on the market didn’t suit their tastes…so they made their own. As you do.
Their alcohol-free craft beer is lovingly brought to life without the need for artificial removal of alcohol. Renowned experimental brewer, Johnny Clayton, heads the brew crew using barley, rye, wheat and oats to create a wide range of non-alc beers that everyone can enjoy.

Faqs

From humble beginnings in the UK to now brewing and distributing in countries worldwide (including an Australian brewery in Melbourne) Big Drop Brewing Co. has been making a name for itself in the non-alc beer brewing sphere. Since 2016 the team at Big Drop have been dedicated to crafting some of the finest 0.5% ABV beer the world has ever seen. Read more about this innovative brand and its delicious brews below…

What are the benefits of drinking non-alcoholic beer like the ones in the Big Drop range?

No hangover, you can drive home, no embarrassing drunken text messages, healthier long-term and short-term lifestyle…should I keep going?

Not drinking alcohol can vastly improve your life. The sheer number of Aussies making the switch to a drier lifestyle can’t be wrong! Besides, when you can drink an alc-free beer that tastes just a good, if not better than the real deal, why would you want it any other way? Just swapping out a few full-strength tins for alcohol-free drinks can make a huge difference in your health and your lifestyle.

Big Drop even have low gluten, coeliac safe options (<10PPM gluten) in their range so people who struggle with gluten intolerance are free to enjoy!

Why was Big Drop Brewing Co. created?

Launched in October 2016, Big Drop Brewing Co. began with two friends who wanted to create a non-alcoholic beer that tasted amazing and didn’t use artificial alcohol removal techniques. Changes in both of their lifestyles meant they couldn’t drink as much alcohol anymore…but they still wanted to enjoy the crisp, refreshing taste of a good beer.

They focused their attention on Big Drop and it soon grew as they realised they weren’t the only ones who shared their love for beer sans the alcohol. Now, they brew for anyone and everyone who loves to “go big on life” and “to drink, not to be drunk”.

Who are the people behind Big Drop Brewing Co.’s success?

The Big Drop team consists of founders Rob Fink and James Kindred. Rob was a lawyer and James was a designer/entrepreneur. They’d known each other since school days so the team up was a perfect mach.

They’ve since joined forces with renowned experimental brewer Johnny Clayton. Johnny is known for his innovative brewing methods and his unparalleled flavour sensations when it comes to perfecting a batch of the good stuff.

Have Big Drop won any awards in the non-alc beer industry?

They’ve actually won quite a few! Four of their beers took out awards in the 2020 World Beer Awards, with their Pine Trail Pale Ale and Galactic Milk Stout winning World’s Best in their categories.

In 2019 their Brown Ale took out a World’s Best title in the World Beer Awards and their Stout won Gold in the Non-alcoholic Stout category at the US Open Beer Championship.

In 2018 Big Drop was named one of three Best Drinks Producers at the BBC Food and Farming Awards.

2017 won them the Best Business Innovation award from The Society of Independent Brewers.

That’s all we’ve got time for here but there are plenty more if you care to research Big Drop Brewing Co. yourself.

Which Big Drop Brewing Co. non-alcoholic drinks does Sans Drinks stock?

Of all the drinks in the Big Drop range, I’ve chosen my two faves to stock initially. The fact that they’re both low gluten made it easy to say yes to selling these tantalising tins.

Pine Trail Pale Ale

Uptown Craft Lager

You can pick up a single can for a taste test, a pack of twelve for after work drinks or a carton of 24 for your next backyard BBQ.

All Big Drop alc-free beers contain less than 0.5% ABV meaning you can enjoy as many as you like without having to deal with alcohol induced consequences.

What Big Drop beer should I drink?

Well, you’ve got two to choose from right now, hopefully with more to follow…

Pine Trail Pale Ale

The Pine Trail Pale Ale is made with Magnum, Mosaic and Amarillo hops. These and other classic Pale Ale ingredients merge beautifully to bring a floral aroma. A slight whiff of roses mingles with a limey citrus taste that’s so bloody fresh it hurts. It’s the perfect drink for lovers of Pale Ale.

Uptown Craft Lager

As the name suggests, if you love a good Lager, you’ll love this beauty. Hallertau Hersbrucker and Magnum hops are mixed with barley, rye and wheat to produce a light herbal and floral aroma. You’ll get hints of caramel and a slightly spicy peppery hit, finished off with a zesty orange aftertaste.

Do the non-alcoholic beers in the Big Drop range taste like regular beers?

That’s the best thing about Big Drop Brewing Co. – they make their beer with beer lovers in mind. They’re not out to reinvent the wheel. They make non-alc beer that tastes just as good, if not better, than a regular beer.

Sure, they love innovative brewing, especially with experimental brew master himself, Johnny Clayton on the team. They don’t let this get in the way of producing beer that tastes like real beer though.

Big Drop’s range is sure to impress even the toughest critics of non-alc beer, given the research and development that goes into perfecting each and every flavour.

Any future plans for Big Drop Brewing Co. in the near future?

2020 was a huge year for Big Drop Brewing Co. with their Pine Trail Pale Ale becoming THE alcohol-free beer listing at Nando’s nationwide, plus a huge branding makeover to celebrate global expansion. I can’t tell you for sure what’s in store, however 2021 is gearing up to be just as big for this brewery in more ways than one!

I’ll keep you updated as more options from the range are added to the Sans Drinks shelves.
