Claytons was originally founded by the Clayton Brothers in London in 1880 and became famous for creating the world’s first alcohol alternative, Claytons Kola Tonic. These days Clayton’s is based in Barbados and has close ties to West Africa, home to the African Kola Nut. Claytons first became popular in Australia during the 1970s when a television commercial described it as ‘the drink you have when you’re not drinking. Claytons Kola tonic has made a comeback recently as the popularity of non-alcoholic drinks has surged.
