Porter is a style of beer developed in London that dates back to the early 18th century, well before non-alcoholic beer was invented. It is a well-hopped dark beer with a malty character. Porter and stout are very similar, in fact, some breweries use the terms interchangeably. However, some experts say there are subtle differences between the two with Porters tending to have a slighter lighter colour. Deschutes Black Butte is a non-alcoholic beer in the Porter style.
