Is there a sugarfree non-alcoholic wine?
At the moment, there are no non-alcoholic wines that are completely sugar free, this is due to the natural sugars that are found in grapes. However, there are lots of low sugar alcohol free wines. According to Food Standards Australia and NZ, a drink can be labelled ‘low in sugar’ if it contains 2.5g of sugar, or less, per 100ml. Many of our non-alcoholic brands fall into this category, including Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc (1.8g sugar/100ml), Next Destination Langhorne Creek Blanc de Blanc (2.5g sugar/100ml) and Altina Liberate Pepperberry Shiraz (1g/100ml).
What is the sugar content in wine?
It is difficult to know the exact sugar content in wine because at the moment, wine makers are not required to list how much sugar in wine on their labels? So if you are wondering how much sugar in white wine you might struggle to find an accurate, reliable answer. Non-alcoholic wine makers, on the other hand, are required to clearly list both sugar in wine and calories on their labels. This means that when you’re drinking alcohol free wine, you know exactly how much sugar you are consuming.
What kind of wine has the lowest sugar?
Many non-alcoholic wines are low sugar and low calorie. Our most popular low sugar alcohol free wines include, Giesen 0% (1.8g sugar/100ml), 1920 Wines Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Shiraz (2.5g sugar/100ml), Tread Softly Everything Except Pinot Noir (2.5g sugar/100ml) and Thomson & Scott Noughty Rouge Syrah (2.5g sugar/100ml).
Is there a lot of sugar in non-alcoholic wine?
One of the biggest misconceptions about non-alcoholic wine is that it is full of sugar. This is probably a hangover from the times when non-alcoholic wine was essentially grape juice. New, modern non-alcoholic wines tend to be de-alcoholised, which means that they have the same taste, aroma and mouthfeel as traditional wine, without the calories. Non-alcoholic wine also tends to be low sugar.
