Your Autumn Drinks guide

Mar 16, 2022

Autumn is here and as the seasons change so do my drinking habits. While summer is a time for crisp refreshing drinks, in Autumn it's nice to include some warmer flavours and spicy notes.

In this guide I walk you through the drinks I'm recommending this Autumn.

Two glasses of non-alcoholic wine at a winery

 White wine

1920 Wines Alcohol Removed Sauvignon Blanc

The product: Made by the best selling brand 1920 Wines, this non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc has been made with grapes from South Eastern Australia. Featuring flavours of tropical fruit salad, this wine has a full-bodied mouthfeel and a well-rounded finish.

Worth noting: Just 20 calories per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "This is my new favourite non-alc Sauvignon Blanc, I loved the Pinot Grigio and this is just as good. It is smooth and bodied when I find some others can be a bit like vinegar."

Odd Bird Low Intervention Organic White No.1

The product: Made by Odd Bird, this organic wine has been crafted with Italian grapes using low-intervention winemaking techniques. With flavours of pear and citrus and floral undertones.

Worth noting: Low in calories at 18.3 calories per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "This to me tasted like real wine, it was a bit on the pricey side but well worth it considering how many I have had to throw out in the past."

Eisberg Alcohol Free Sauvignon Blanc

The product: Eisberg is the most popular non-alcoholic wine in the UK. This alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc features classic gooseberry aromas and flavours of tropical fruit.

What customers are saying: "The label promises "classic gooseberry" flavours from this drop and that's certainly the case. I enjoyed this wine and will likely buy it again."

Red wine

Teetotaler Red Wine

The product: Teetotaler was made famous when their sparkling wine was featured in 'And Just Like That' the Sex and the City reboot and the rest of the collection is just as sexy. Made in Spain, this red wine has been crafted from Tempranillo Grapes and features notes of oak, cherries and plum.

Worth noting: This wine is low in calories at 19 calories per 100mls.

Giesen 0% New Zealand Merlot

The product: Giesen 0% has a great reputation within the non-alcoholic wine category and this Merlot is every bit as good as the rest of the collection. Featuring flavours of crushed blackberry and wild herbs, this red wine has a classic Merlot structure and fine tannins on the finish.

Worth noting: Low in sugar at 1.3g per 100mls and low in calories at 18 calories per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "As with all Giesen wines, this 0% Merlot is a winner. It is everything you want from a Merlot, soft, buttery, mid-level tannins and balanced acidity, minus the booze. I have tried ALL the non-alc reds and this is up there with the best. Well worth a try!"

Le Petit Etoile Cabernet Sauvignon

The product: Made in France, this non-alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon features aromas of jammy fruits, blackcurrant and morello cherry with subtle notes of vanilla and clove. The palate is warm and peppery and the finish is smooth.

Worth noting: Organically made with no added sulphites*

*Natural sulphites may still be present.

What customers are saying: "Warm and fruity! This red wine has my heart."

Classic mixed drinks & mocktails

Ms Sans Margarita

The product: From my own label, Ms Sans, this pre-mixed Margarita comes with the non-alcoholic tequila already blended in. Featuring Tahitian lime, Ms Sans is made in Australia with no added sugar.

Worth noting: Low in calories at 18v calories per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "The best pre-mixed non-alc margarita I have tried. The flavours are nicely balanced and saves you the hassle of making the cocktail from scratch."

Lyre's G&T Premix Drinks - Non Alc Gin & Tonic

The product: Lyre's Dry London pre-mixed with premium tonic in a handy ready to drink can. With classic notes of Juniper and citrus, this G&T is aromatic and refreshing.

What customers are saying: "These are fantastic, I could easily sit and drink them over and over again with just a squeeze of lime. Delicious!"

Spritzing In Venice

The Product: Make the perfect Aperitif Spritz with Sans Bar Spritzing in Venice and Thomson & Scott Noughty. Spritzing in Venice features flavours of orange, rhubarb and a special blend of herbs.

Worth noting: Both Spritzing in Venice and Noughty are low in calories.

What customers are saying: "This has a great flavour profile and still captures some of that bitterness that is the classic marker of the Italian aperitif. It's great with a sparkling alcohol free chardonnay or your fave alcohol free dry sparkling white wine. Really great to have a less sweet alcohol free option to go to and this feels and tastes just like having a cocktail. Fantastic price point too!"

Sparkling wine

Thomson & Scott Noughty

The product: The BBC says it's the closest in mouthfeel and taste to real wine. It's made from premium grapes grown in southern Spain's sandy and calcareous vineyards and features a crisp apple scent and dry, champagne-style flavour profile.

Worth noting: Low in calories at just 14 calories per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "Noughty is the best alcohol free sparkling I’ve tried so far. Bubbles-wise it packs a tremendous punch (the cork literally flies out!) , it hits the back of the throat with a lovely fizz, and tastes really dry and fresh, with no sugary aftertaste. The rose version is pretty good too!"

Brown Brothers Prosecco Ultra Low

The product: Made by Brown Brothers, one of Australia's leading family-owned wine brands, this lively non-alcoholic sparkling has all the flavours you would expect from a classic Italian Prosecco. With notes of crisp green apple, juicy pear and a hint of citrus.

Worth noting: Low in calories at 17 calories per 100mls and low in sugar at 2.1g per 100mls.

What customers are saying: "I love my bubbles, but I love not having a headache the next day even more. This is the closest to the real thing I've tried yet."

Teetotaler Sparkling Rose

The product: This is the sparkling wine that Carry and Co. enjoy in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That. Made in Spain with Tempranillo grapes, Teetotaler Sparkling Rose has a classic pink hue and delicate bubbles.

What customers are saying: "Not too sweet and not too dry with beautiful flavour. I really enjoyed this wine. Will be purchasing more."
