The pool of talent in the Australian alcohol-free sparkling wine industry is excellent when it comes to all things wine. Australian winemakers really do it best! From long standing to names to emerging brands

Which non-alcoholic Sparkling wines should you try now?

The silly season is almost upon us and I’m sure we’re all in the mood for a little celebratory Champers – well, I sure am. So, I’m sharing this list of some of my favourite Aussie made Sparkling wines so you can still enjoy some sophisticated effervescence with your Christmas lunch this year. Have a few glasses or indulge in an entire bottle, either way, you can still safely drive home, parent responsibly and do everything you would normally do without the consequences.

McGuigan Zero

The McGuigan name is highly regarded in the wine making game. For decades now, McGuigan have crafted some of the best wines, not only in Australia, but in the world. They noticed the rate at which people all across the globe were giving up the grog, so they set to work creating their McGuigan Zero range of non-alcoholic drinks, they say "McGuigan Zero provides consumers with freedom of choice" and we couldn't agree more.

1. McGuigan Zero Dry Sparkling

This highly rated Aussie bubbly beauty has all the fantastic taste of a McGuigan Sparkling wine, minus the alcohol. Flavours of pear and green apple mingle to create a delightful fruity zing that pairs perfectly with a fruit platter or a seafood feast.

This wine is full-bodied with a well-balanced flavour and a crisp finish. It’s lower in calories than similar alcoholic wines and contains no artificial sweeteners or flavours so that you can enjoy more food instead of filling up on liquid calories. It’s a win-win, if you ask me.

Plus & Minus

This is a new player in the alcohol-free wine space, but Plus & Minus wine is super tasty with some seriously great health benefits. A lot of research has gone into ensuring these wines contain only the highest quality ingredients, minus the alcohol.

Imagine a wine with + the antioxidants but minus – the alcohol. That’s Plus & Minus, a revolutionary wine style that aims to give those that still want a glass of quality wine when they don’t actually feel like alcohol.

2. Plus & Minus Blanc de Blancs NV

These bubbles with benefits contain grape seed oil which is super high in naturally occurring antioxidants. Antioxidants have been identified as helpful in keeping our entire bodies healthy and happy. Plus & Minus have brought us this dazzling drop, using only the finest fruits from South Australian vineyards.

Canapes are the perfect pairing for this bubbly beauty as she is full of vibrant citrus flavours and notes of apple and stone fruits.

Edenvale Premium Reserve

Edenvale have been making wine since 2006 and are Australia’s leading alcohol-removed wine brand. Their latest Premium Reserve range is a real game changer in this space.

3. Edenvale Premium Reserve Sparkling Shiraz

Now, if a BBQ is on the cards, this is just the sparkler to liven up the party! Steak, ribs, salads and other BBQ frequenters are all perfectly matched with Edenvale’s Premium Reserve Sparkling Shiraz.

Flavours include blackberry, currant, exotic spices and hints of oak, much like a regular Sparkling Shiraz. The only thing missing is the alcohol!

Low-cal and rich in antioxidants, this effervescent red is a healthier alternative to regular wine and you can have a few glasses (or bottles) before carrying on with your life, driving home and waking up the next morning minus the hangover.

4. Edenvale Premium Reserve Sparkling Blanc de Blanc

Now, this is one non-alc sparkler that contains minimal calories, loads of flavour and skin loving antioxidants. It’s a much healthier alternative to a regular Champagne-style wine and perfect for every possible occasion. It has notes. of peach, citrus, apricot, apple and a complex undertone which all work perfectly synergistically for our drinking pleasure.

Lindeman's Alcohol-Free Wine

Another Aussie brand that has been around forever (well, over 170 years but it seems like forever), Lindemans boasts some of the most delicious wines in the Aussie drinks market. They’ve won multiple awards for many of their products, for very good reason. They have a dedicated and longstanding winemaking team that is proud to craft a diverse portfolio of wines.

Update: Unfortunately Lindeman's has discontinued their Sparkling wine, but we have many new Australian sparkling wines to try.

V.NO

5. V.No Sparkling Wine

Made by Patritti, who have been making wine in South Australia since 1926, the V.NO range has been crafted with health and wellness in mind.

This sparkling wine is crisp and refreshing with a well-balanced citrus flavour. It's also vegan, gluten free, low in sugar and only 26 calories per 100ml.

Why is it important to support the Aussie non-alcoholic wine industry?

It’s just the Aussie way, isn’t it? We all want to help our neighbours. We all trust our fellow Aussies to create quality products. We all want to make sure our local businesses have the support they need to succeed. The Australian non-alcoholic wine industry needs our help! If we want to continue seeing innovation and quality from family-run businesses giving their all to bring us tasty alcohol-free drinks, we need to show them our support. This is the reason I choose to stock a strong range of Aussie made drinks on the Sans Drinks shelves. Supporting home-grown businesses, both small and large, is something I see immense value in, and I love being able to use my platform for this.
