What is non-alcoholic beer?

Non-alcoholic beer and low alcohol beer are broad descriptions for beer that contains 0.5% or less ABV (Alcohol by Volume). That's about the same amount of alcohol found in juice or kombucha. Zero-alcohol beer has become increasingly popular in the last few years and there are now numerous types available including sport beer, craft beer, gluten free beer and low calorie beer.

Is non-alcoholic beer healthy?

There is significant scientific evidence to show that alcohol is bad news for our health. Non-alcoholic beer allows us to enjoy the taste of beer without the negative effects of alcohol. On top of this, there are extra health benefits to drinking zero-alcohol beer. Sports beer, for example, is ideal for hydration post exercise. Some non-alcoholic beers also contain extra benefits like the Erdinger Wheat Beer which naturally contains b9 and b12 vitamins, folic acid and polyphenols, as well as isotonic properties, making it a great recovery drink. We also specialise in zero-alcohol low gluten beer, low calorie beer and low sugar beer.

How many calories are there in beer?

Calories from alcoholic drinks are often referred to as ‘hidden calories’ or ‘empty calories’. But the good news is that non-alcoholic beers are generally lower in carbohydrates and contain fewer calories, sometimes up to half compared to regular beer. Heineken is a great example, a 330ml bottle of full strength Heineken contains 139 calories, while the non-alcoholic Heineken beer calories are much lower at just 69 calories per 330ml bottle. At Sans Drinks, we follow the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) guidelines when categorising the products we sell as ‘low sugar’ and ‘low alcohol’. This means that all of the beers in our low calorie beer section are 19 calories or under per 100ml and all of the beers in our low sugar beer section contain no more than 2.5g of sugar per 100ml. Are non-alcoholic beers fattening?

Non-alcoholic beers contain fewer calories than regular beer, so they are a great start if you’re opting for a healthier lifestyle. A great non-alcoholic beer

It comes quite close to the flavour of a German Hefeweizen. It is a little reminiscent of a (non-alcoholic) malt beer, without being too sweet. It's not stale, but has a round, full body and above all it doesn't have that iron-like flavour that many other non-alcoholic beers have. A top recommendation.
