Sour Mocktail garnished with a slice of lemon next to a bottle of Lyre's Amaretti

This zesty mocktail is based on the Amaretto Sour, a drink believed to have been created in America in the 1970’s when Italian liqueurs were becoming popular in bars. The nutty sweetness of Lyre’s Amaretti is balanced with sour lemon juice, bitters, sugar syrup and whipped egg white, resulting in a frothy sweet and sour mocktail that’s joyful to drink. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a Maraschino Cherry on top.

INGREDIENTS

75 ml Lyre's Amaretti
15 ml Lemon Juice
5 ml White Sugar Syrup (see notes)
10 ml egg white whipped (see notes)
3 dashes of Aromatic Bitters

METHOD
  1. Rapid shake all ingredients 
  2. Pour into an old fashioned glass, add ice
  3. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a Maraschino cherry.
NOTES
To make Sugar Syrup combine 50 grams of sugar with 50 ml of warm water in a jar and shake to dissolve. To make a Vegan version of whipped egg white, whip up 30ml water from a can of chick peas.
